Itemizing goal achievement is a practice which involves continually self-checking one’s mental aptitude towards connecting your dots. The connection of dots illustrates the appearance of perseverance, focus, and resilience, but when in action it: identifies the target, strategizes a game plan, and finally, performs. The old school way of talk views it as working hard or just surviving, but in the presence of modern day leadership, this is the practicality of leveling-up.
For Willie Gibson, he’s all too familiar with leadership, strategic planning, and the level-up. With five years underway and possibly, a lifetime to go, Willie’s presence at technology-based, APEX Analytix, may not be felt (per se) by all of his peers, but it is definitely seen. His motivation to win is a must-see and must-do, but it must be understood that his path to success began, when he connected his dots. His first dot connected upon Willie earning his Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. He followed that degree by also obtaining a Master’s of Science in Accounting from Liberty University. Having both an undergraduate and graduate degree in accounting, the next assumption would be, he’s going to take the CPA exam, but the second part of Proverbs 11:2 showed its presence in his life...
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” (New International Version)
Just imagine, two degrees plus a CPA license would be the perfect trophy display to peers, colleagues, friends, and family. However, Willie’s humility and financial knowledge kicked in. He settled in his heart: it wasn’t the right time, the right reason, nor a positive financial move to take the CPA exam. And so, there stood goal number one; accomplished and the first dot connected. It was time to move forward and continue setting the trend for greatness.
Willie went on to connect the second dot in pristine fashion; cracking the gap between the desire and the outcome. Realistic in nature, Willie entered APEX Analytix’s entry-level workforce with an aspiration to be promoted by the third year. If his petition to God highlighted that aspiration, it would be done at year three. It’s obvious God reminded him that through Christ anything is possible; and so it was written. Two and a half years into his role as Recovery Analyst, the combination of mentorship and well-grooming soon designed him into the ideal candidate, ready to sign the dotted line when offered the role of Audit Advisor. His number was three; however, God’s number was two and some change. With goal number two accomplished, a leader has developed.
And finally the last dot - life coaching - connected.
Although birthed in 2018, Deep Cut Coaching LLC will make its debut in 2019. Not looking to scratch the surface, Willie wants to dig down and deal with the deep issues.
“Once we get that weight off you, I believe everyone learns how to fly,” he excitedly expressed, when speaking of his anticipated business venture. It’s safe to say, we should all stick around to watch the third dot bloom and positively change the life of you, me, and others.

Since the September edition of Troos Mag celebrates the art of leadership, what we’ve seen and the potential it (leadership) has for improvement, it’s only befitting that we spotlight Willie Gibson. He understands the tools and emotions needed to lead a team; not just in the corporate setting, but in church and entrepreneurship as well. If you talk to him long enough, you will learn his model for effective leadership; it’s quite simple. Said respectfully, yet with an uncompromising attitude, he admonishes,“When in leadership, you can’t be rigid. A good leader can take the situation, analyze it, see what’s needed and address that need.” With leaders like Willie Gibson around, the world can start moving in the right direction, but - with order.
Troos Mag salutes you Willie Gibson.
